WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO BE A PROVIDER?

I wanted to help people live better and I enjoy solving problems. I really like working with people, helping them to feel better and live better.

WHAT ARE YOUR SPECIALTIES? WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO TREAT AND WHY?

I started as a general practitioner, but I mostly treat patients with cancer and immune disease. My true expertise is finding and treating the underlying cause of the illness. I trust in the ability of people to heal once the true cause of an illness is found and overcome. My first job as a physician is to find the cause of the illness. Then we find the treatment that will remove or compensate for that cause. It is a joy of mine to work with people, helping them to feel better, and live better. True healing is in our nature.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN ALASKA? AND WHY DID YOU MOVE HERE?

I moved to Alaska in 2000. I wanted to own my own clinic, in a place where I could make a difference. I wanted to live in a community with a lot of good people and characters.

WHERE HAVE YOU LIVED BEFORE ALASKA?

I lived in Mesa, Arizona and Milwaukie, Oregon.

PREVIOUS CAREERS?

I worked in restaurants in my youth. In the kitchen I stared washing dishes and ended as a head cook. In college I worked as a waiter in a busy restaurant. I learned tons about multitasking and keeping a cool head under pressure. After college I taught science and health at a junior high school for two years. After medical school I taught histology, anatomy embryology, and laboratory diagnosis before becoming the Chairman of Diagnostics at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. I also worked as the Chief Medical Officer in the teaching clinic before moving to Alaska.

HOBBIES AND OTHER INTERESTS?

I am keen on outdoor adventure. I am an avid cyclist and dabble in nordic skiing, snowboarding, trail running, mountain biking, and rock climbing. In addition, I love to play music and play bass and drums in The South Cushman Socal Club.

FAMILY?

I am the proud father of three sons and two daughters. I cannot believe I’m old enough to also have two granddaughters and a grandson. I am also the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters.
